Jeanette Letro

CANFIELD, Ohio — Jeanette Letro, 91, of Canfield, Ohio, who passed away at home on March 2, after a short illness.

Jeanette was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Steamburg, N.Y., a daughter of Lauren Eugene and Libbie (Archer) Williams.

She graduated from Randolph Central School in 1945. Upon graduation, she worked in the payroll department of Art Metal in Jamestown, N.Y., for seven years. On Aug. 12, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Letro, Jr., who was also a 1945 classmate. They started dating in their senior year. They had two children: James and Christine. They celebrated 67 years of marriage last year. After her children were born, she was a stay at home mother and wife.

Her husband’s Railroad career moved them from Steamburg, N.Y., (Salamanca, NY), Hornell, N.Y., Greenville, Pa., Hubbard, Ohio (Youngstown, Ohio) and to Birmingham, Mich. (Detroit, Mic.). She embraced each move and helped her family settle into a new home, schools and community each time they were relocated.

In earlier years, Jeanette belonged to the Hubbard Garden Club & Ladies Golf League in Hubbard, Ohio. In Michigan, she belonged to the Newcomers Club and Golf League. Jeanette and Joe belonged to the Nomad Travel Club in Michigan and were members of the St Regis Church while in Michigan. They enjoyed traveling over the years. Also, she was an animal lover.

She lived a long fulfilling life. She was a kind, honest person who loved her family and spending time with her husband and children, whom she cherished.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Joe; her two children: James Letro, of Hubbard, Ohio, and her daughter Christine (Richard) Hanrahan of Canfield, Ohio; her sister-in- law, Julia “Judy” Williams; niece, Melinda (Matt) Moran of Steamburg, N.Y.; brother and sister-In-law: Donald and Donalee Letro of Randolph, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Roberta Letro of Hanceville, Ala.; two step-grandchildren: Stephanie (Brian) Racz and Lauren (Louis) Suarez; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Allan Williams; sister, Helen Winship; mother and father-In-law, Joseph & Mildred Letro; sister- in-law, Audrey Letro; and brother-in-law, Robert Letro.

There will be private services at the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home in Randolph, N.Y., on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Randolph, will officiate. A burial service will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Randolph.
