Gerald V. Lindsey Sr.

Gerald V. Lindsey Sr., 83, Sheffield, Pa., passed away at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, with his family by his side, following a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born June 14, 1934, the son of Gerald and Hazelle (Greenawalt) Lindsey. He lived all of his life in the Sheffield area with the exception of time served in the army.

He attended Sheffield schools and was Methodist by faith. He retired from MRC-TRW as a machinist. After retirement, he did carpentry work building garages, kitchen cabinets, finishing inside of homes and building a house in Pleasant Township. He was very proud of the two homes he built for his family and his wife is always happy to show off the pieces of furniture he made including a roll-top desk and a glider.

In the summer, Jerry loved to garden, giving away a lot of vegetables to friends and family. One of his greatest pleasures was hunting with his nephew, Michael, and making venison bologna.

He was a member of Sheffield Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sheffield Rod & Gun Club, the Eagles Club, Warren and the American Legion, Warren.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna (Barr) Lindsey; his son, Gerald V. Lindsey Jr. and his wife, Jana (Ordiway) Lindsey; his grandchildren: Christopher (Ashley) Lindsey, Falconer, N.Y., Gerald J. and friend, Jessika, Jamestown, N.Y.; Michael (Nicole) Bowley, Flanders, N.J., Jamie (Dan) Krenn, Hinsdale, N.Y., and Jacob Johnson, Sheffield; his great-grandchildren: Austin and Logan Bowley, Flanders, N..J; Liam and Lydia Krenn, Hinsdale, N.Y., and Kane Lindsey, Falconer, N.Y. He is also survived by his brother, John Lindsey, Saybrook; and his sister, Kandace Carlson, Warren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Lindsey in 2010; his sister, Mable and her husband, David Arp; and by brothers: Forrest (Bunk) Lindsey and Rodney (Skip) Lindsey.

Friends may call on Friday, March 2, 6-8 p.m., at the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield and 10-11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Sheffield United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Teluch officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Sheffield and Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
