Owen L. Houser
Owen L. Houser, 82, of Cassadaga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, with family by his side.
Born July 8, 1935, in Rimersburg, Pa., a son of the late David Harold and Helen Salsgiver Houser.
He was employed for over 30 years as a custodian for Cassadaga Valley Central School, primarily at Cassadaga Elementary. Owen was previously employed as a supervisor at Kling’s division of Ethan Allan, Frewsburg.
He was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church, Cassadaga. Owen enjoyed playing guitar and was a member of the Big River Band, performing country gospel music at various churches and Christian events throughout the county.
Owen enjoyed woodworking, gardening, mowing the lawn, biking and participated in the Tour of Chautauqua up to age 80. His pride and joy was his family and he adored his grandchildren.
Husband of 63 years to Phyllis Shoemaker Houser, whom he married Aug. 14, 1954; father of Dean (Karen) Houser of Sinclairville, Cindy Budniewski of Dunkirk, Jody Houser and Robin Webb, all of Cassadaga; grandfather of Matthew, Nicholas and Kelly Budniewski, Derek and Alyson Houser and Ryan Webb; brother of Clarence (Bertha) Howser of Westfield, Joanne (Gary) Ball of Shelocta, Pa., Emily (Lloyd) Ace and Shirley (Homer) Shrecengost, all of Kittanning, Pa., and the late David Houser. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Open Door Baptist Church, 4576 Luce Road (Corner of Route 60), Cassadaga. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.
