Helen Elaine Wannenwetsch
Helen Elaine Wannenwetsch peacefully closed the chapter on her earthly life on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at the Blair Hospice Residence in Warren and began her anxiously awaited new journey. Born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Oct. 3, 1931, she was the daughter of David Ecklof and Alice Linnea Rockman Ecklof. Helen graduated from Jamestown High School, received her nursing degree from Millard Filmore School of Nursing in Buffalo, N.Y., and put her nursing skills to use at Jamestown General Hospital, the Lutheran Home, Heritage Village and WCA Hospital, from where she retired.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wannenwetsch and son, Steven Wannenwetsch. Helen is survived by her daughter, Ann Wannenwetsch of Harrisburg, Pa.; son, Mark Wannenwetsch of Jamestown, N.Y.; granddaughter, Gabriella Cohle and her husband, Dr. Chad Cohle; grandson, Colin Bollana; and great-grandsons, Dominic and Landon Bollana; and her granddog, Lexi.
The family sends heartfilled thanks to all of the hospice workers and volunteers, Dr. Lamancuso and his staff, and extended family members who touched Helen’s life over the past year and gave her lots of extra love and attention. These “angels” treated Mom/Grama with the utmost respect and dignity, and went above and beyond, to provide both emotional and physical comfort to Helen as she prepared for her new next adventure.
