Gary E. Singer

ALLEGANY, N.Y. — Gary E. Singer of Allegany, passed away Friday (Nov. 10, 2017) at the Olean General Hospital, after a long illness.

Born Sept. 12, 1945, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of Allen and Gladys Faye Watson Singer. On Aug. 26, 1967, at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown, he married Barbara A. Fusco who survives.

Gary graduated from Jamestown High School and then served with the Pennsylvania National Guard for six years. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union Local 649 and was an accident-free truck driver for over 30 years.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit and once owned a gas station in Jamestown. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed automotive restoration, especially classic cars. He had a passion for racing and enjoyed attending NASCAR events around the country with his family as well as National Hotrod Association drag- racing events.

He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and formerly coached Midget football for several years in Allegany.

Surviving besides his wife are three children: Joelle Singer of Buffalo, Mark Singer of Denver, Colo., and Justin (Tiffany) Singer of Madison, Ohio; two grandchildren: Mackenzie and Cole; a brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Janet Fusco of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: James Singer and Richard Singer; and a sister, Donna Gottshall.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. A prayer service will be held Monday (Nov. 13, 2017) at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Bonaventure Church.
