Shirley A. Carlson

Shirley A. Carlson, 81, of Fredonia, formerly of Sinclairville, passed away at home, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Gerald and Harriet Greene Clark. She was a 1954 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

Shirley was employed as a waitress serving for 30 years at House of Petillo’s, Lakewood and then eight years at Cassadaga Country Club, retiring in 2005.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, golfing, going to the casino, bird watching and collecting dolls. Family oriented, she loved cooking and having everybody over for dinner, family picnics, card games and going out to lunch with her cousins.

Wife of 47 years to the late Gordon D. Carlson, whom she married July 22, 1955, and who died June 15, 2002; mother of Kihm (Becky) Carlson of Russell, Pa., Shelly Wirges of Jamestown, Randy (Beth) Carlson of Gerry and Staci Carlson of Fredonia; grandmother of Randy and Bryan Carlson, William Warner, Jr., Christine Lacki, Kaitlyn McLallen, Danielle Briggs and Angela Ecklund; great-grandmother of Ayla, Eva and Abram Briggs, Ashlee McClure and Tyler Watson; sister of Dennis Clark of Niagara Falls and the late Gary Clark; half- sister of Sharon Mettler of Lewiston, Pauline Nolan of Niagara Falls and Barbara Wheeler of Florida. Shirley is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville with visitation two hours prior to the service.
