Violet Mae Hall Pickard, 95, passed away at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Greenhurst, N.Y., on July 10, 2017, with her family present.

She was a former resident in Jamestown, N.Y., and Brooksville, Fla.

Violet was born in Dewittville, N.Y., on Jan. 2, 1922, the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Beaujean Hall.

On March 22, 1942, she married Arthur Pickard.

She was a woman of many talents. In addition to raising her own three children, she served as a foster mother to six others as well as a nanny to two of her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Shane Hetrick during their younger years.

Seamstress, district manager for Avon and Dutchmaid clothing, skilled porcelain doll maker and avid golfer were other hobbies.

Additionally, Violet loved fishing, trips to the Casino and spending quality time with her family. She was supportive of her great- grandsons sporting events. Violet will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Brill) Morris of Jamestown, N.Y.; a son, Larry Pickard of Dewittville, N.Y.; and a sister, June (Lyle) Cross of Dewittville, N.Y.,

Grandchildren include: Doug (Theresa) Morris of Jamestown, N.Y., and Sally Morris (Mark) Hetrick of Bemus Point, N.Y.

Violet also has three great-grandsons: Brent (Lauren) Morris of Frewsburg, N.Y., Ryan Hetrick of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Shane Hetrick of Bemus Point, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrtle Beaujean Hall’ a son, Donn Pickard; and a brother, Earl Hall.

A memorial service will be held at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, 3023 Route 430, Greenhurst, N.Y. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, with an hour of visitation starting at 5 p.m., and a service beginning at 6 p.m. Refreshments will follow the service.
