Michael Monroe Simmons

Michael Monroe Simmons, 38, of Jacksonville, formerly of Dunkirk and Randolph, passed away unexpectedly Monday (Sept. 18, 2017) in Jacksonville, Fla.

He was born Sept. 25, 1978, in Jamestown, the son of Paul E. Simmons and Emma M. Sommers Harrower.

He was a graduate of Randolph Central School and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving as Lance Corporal from 1997-2001 and had served in Egypt and Israel. While in New York, he had worked at the Nestle Purina Plant in Dunkirk.

Michael was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and loved to be outdoors. Camping, hiking, and fishing were among his many hobbies.

Michael is survived by his mother, Emma (Rodney) Harrower of Jamestown; his father, Paul (Valerie) Simmons of Silver Creek; maternal grandmother, Anna Sommers of East Randolph; four children: Michael Monroe Brooks of Lakewood, Jade Alexandria Simmons, Phoebe Noelle Simmons, and Chloe Aribeth Simmons, all of Miami,

Additional survivors include four brothers: Albert (Karen) Simmons of Bemus Point, Ryan Simmons of Silver Creek, Chris Harrower of Falconer, and Ronald Harrower of Raleigh; three sisters: Melinda (Eric) Houser of Falconer, Paige Thomas of Ellicottville and Janelle Simmons of Silver Creek; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins

The family will receive family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (Sept. 30, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where services will follow at Noon. The Rev. Cameron Lienhart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181. To send a condolence log onto.
