Marilyn Lucille Barron

WESTFIELD — Marilyn Lucille Barron, 86, of Westfield, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at the Absolut Care of Westfield.

She was born May 6, 1931, in New Kensington, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Figiel) Hurst.

Marilyn had worked for WCA Hospital for 30 years as a Medical Records Technician, as well as Warren General Hospital in admissions and on the switchboard.

She was a member of the St. Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville where she was an organist for 19 years and later with the St. James RC Church of Jamestown. She enjoyed volunteering with the Christian Community Committee at St. James RC church, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, and the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

Marilyn had a passion for music, was a talented pianist and singer, and played the French horn as a member of The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Melanie Shely of Dewittville; a son, Kevin (JoAnn) Barron of Westfield; nine grandchildren, Gwen (Carlos) Mitchell, Miranda, Melissa, Reuben, Ivana, Morgan, and Mackenzie Paddock, and Samantha and Tyler Barron; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; an aunt, Nella Gaillot; and a sister in-law, Wanda Hurst.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Barron, whom she married on June 13, 1953, in Springdale, Pa.; two sons, David John and Paul Martin Barron; and two brothers, John (Jack) and Frank (Bud) Hurst.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville. Father Todd Remick will officiate. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery. There will be no visitation observed.
