MAYVILLE — Agnes L. Briggs, 79, of Falconer, and formerly of Mayville, died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at her home in Falconer.

She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lenore Hefren Swanson.

Agnes had been a housewife who also worked part-time with several local businesses. She was a member of the Mayville Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8647. She enjoyed bingo, baking, painting, her grandchildren and family get-togethers.

She is survived by her companion and caretaker, Stan Peru of Falconer; two sons: Stan (Loretta) Briggs of Mayville and Al (Kelli) Briggs of Sherman; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Vernice (Sam) Benedetto, Barbara (Alvin) Simmons and Bert (Ernie) Simmons; and one brother, Frank Swanson.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Briggs, whom she married May 1, 1954, in Chautauqua; two daughters: Linda Briggs and Nancy Truver; and three sisters: Doris Swan, Ann Panebian-co and Bunny Robinson.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Pastor Dan Prewitt will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, and for one hour prior to the funeral service (10-11a.m.).

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, N.Y.
