Virginia B. "Ginger" DeStevens

Virginia B. “Ginger” DeStevens, 59, of 110 W. Third St., Jamestown passed away Thursday (April 27, 2017) in her home.

She was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Corry, Pa., the daughter of Eugene P. and Barbara Furman DeStevens.

Ginger was a graduate of Clymer High School and BOCES, and was employed by the Resource Center in Jamestown for 40 years.

Ginger was a member of Holy Apostles Parish and enjoyed volunteering as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army during the holiday season. She also volunteered for food pantries and AmeriCorps. Ginger was a sports enthusiast and was an avid New York Yankees, New York Giants and Buffalo Sabers fan.

Surviving is her mother Barbara DeStevens of Panama; two brothers: David Destevens of Panama, and Robert (Tricia) DeStevens of Clymer; a sister, Gina (Steven) Baker of Hinsdale, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; and her longtime companion, Jack Lang of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene P. DeStevens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Mende of Holy Apostles Parish officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Mathias Cemetery, French Creek.
