Lewis D. Stuart
Lewis D. Stuart, 85, of Hardscrabble Road, Randolph, passed away Saturday (April 1, 2017) in his home.
He was born June 3, 1931, in Climax, Pa., the son of the late Thornton and Gladys Henry Stuart.
Lewis was a graduate of Porter Township High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War from 1952-54.
He was employed by Lakeshore Trucking, Halls Trucking and Preston Trucking in Jamestown for 42 years, retiring in 1990, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 264.
Lewis enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, shooting, hunting, trapping and fishing. He also enjoyed attending and organizing Army Reunions for the 131st Infantry Regiment.
Surviving are five children: Linda (David) Swanson of Jamestown, Nancy Stuart of Charleston, S.C., Patricia Stuart of Clearwater, Fla., Randal Stuart of Gerry and Charles (Tina) Stuart of Gerry; seven grandchildren: Tammy Day, Justin Swanson, Stefan Adelhardt, Sadie Stuart, Gibson Stuart, Cole Stuart and Cooper Stuart; four great-grandchildren: David and Ryan Swanson and Olivia and Brady Adelhardt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Illa Mae Travis Stuart, whom he married Nov. 18, 1950, in Rimersburg, Pa., and who died Aug. 3, 2012; and two brothers: John and Bernard Stuart.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen and Ruth Strand will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
