John E. Zojonc
John E. Zojonc, 93, of Clymer, N.Y., passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, April 3, 2017.
He was born Feb. 10, 1924, in North East, Pa., the son of the late Walter and Mary Orzip Zajonc.
John attended Clymer School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. John worked at Nuttall Ford in Sherman, N.Y., and he helped operate the Texaco Service Station in Corry, Pa., with his brother, Steve. He retired from Cooper Energy Services. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sophie of Clymer, N.Y., whom he married Oct. 1, 1949; his children: Linda White and Tim Zojonc, both of Clymer, N.Y.; grandchildren: Tiara White, Carrie Keppel, and Kyle Hepler; great- grandsons: Derrick, Ryan and Cole. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Gincott, Dorothy Fitch and Lillian Mason; and a brother, Frank Zojonc.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Walt Zojonc and Steve Zajac; and two sisters; Sophie Craker and Fay Slava.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, in French Creek, N.Y. with Father Mark Itua, celebrant.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in St. Matthias Cemetery with full military honors.
