James B. Johnson

James B. Johnson of Bel Air, Md., formerly of Busti, N.Y., passed away quietly in his home on March 29, 2017.

He was born Feb. 16, 1941, the son of Durwood “Red” and Julia Johnson.

Jim a 1960 graduate of Southwestern Central School and attended Brockport State College.

He was a wrestling coach at the Maryland School for the Blind and a longtime teacher and coach at Westlake High School in Waldorf, Md. In later years, he was a college wrestling official. He traveled extensively to tournaments.

He also enjoyed chainsaw carving of mascots, which he donated to many colleges and high schools, including the Trojan at Southwestern Central School.

Jim is survived by two sons: Scott (Kristen) Johnson of Bel Air, Md., and Brett Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; two granddaughters: Tenneley and Ciera Johnson of Bel Air, Md.; and two brothers: Mick and Gene (Linda), both of Busti.

A memorial service will be observed in Busti at a date to be announced.
