Thelma L. Ohman

Thelma L. Ohman, 89, of 430 East Ave., Falconer passed away Tuesday (Jan. 31, 2017) in UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital.

A lifelong area resident she was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Claribel Ball Newbree Sr.

Thelma attended Celoron High School and prior to retirement was employed by T. James Clark Box retiring in 1988.

She was a member of the Jamestown Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary, Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Bowling League in Falconer.

Thelma enjoyed bowling, bingo, the I Love Lucy Festival and I Love Lucy Museum.  She was an avid NY Mets and Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving are her son: Dennis R. (Karen) Ohman of Meadville, Pa.; two daughters: Linda (Dennis) Riffel of Kennedy, Sandra (Dennis) Dowd of W.E. Jamestown; six grandchildren: Sara (Michael) Wickham, Lisa (Douglas) Brandow, Preston (Jennifer) Holsinger, Bryan Holsinger, Michael (Lisa) Ohman, Pamela Ohman; eight great grandchildren: Anthony and Jonathan Martinez, Kylie Brandow, Alexisand Haydyn Holsinger, Hudson Ohman, Tayten and Kylan Le; a brother Floyd E. Newbree Jr. and a sister Nancy Whitmore.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene R. Ohman whom she married July 25, 1947, who died Aug. 13, 1996; a brother Donald Newbree and a sister Alverna Matthews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate.  Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from noon-2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
