Joseph R. Camarata
Joseph R. Camarata, 74, of Jamestown, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 22, 2017) at his residence.
He was born in Jamestown on Aug. 8, 1942, the son of the late Joseph Camarata and Josephine Saldi Camarata VonVolen.
He was the owner and operator of Joe’s Autobody & Sales for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Brightman Camarata, whom he married on Sept. 30, 1961, in Kennedy; a son, Joseph R. (Krista) Camarata, Jamestown; a daughter, Debra (Adam) Dowd, Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren: Zoe and Lily Camarata, Jamestown, Matthew Dowd, serving with the U.S. Navy in Atsugi, Japan, Sam Dowd, serving with the U.S. Navy in Lemoore, Ca., and Zachary Dowd, a senior at Radford University, Richmond, Va.; a brother, Robert (Jane) VonVolen, Jamestown; two sisters: Cynthia Young, Jamestown, and Valeria (Jeff) Nelson, Gilbertsville, Pa.; his step mother, Phyllis Camarata, Lakewood, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert VonVolen; and a grandson, Alex Dowd.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon at the Fluvanna Community Church. The Rev. Dayle Keefer, pastor, will officiate. A luncheon will follow.
