Arthur R. Olson

Arthur R. Olson, 92, of Jamestown passed away Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2017) in Bradford Manor Nursing Home, Bradford, Pa.

He was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Gustus Olson and Alma Johannson.

Arthur served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1941-1947 and also during the Korean War 1947-1954 aboard the USS Ellis and USS Wisconsin. After serving his country, he returned home and acquired a job working for the BPU, loading coal. While working at the BPU he acquired his GED and attended JCC where he graduated with an associate’s degree in engineering. He retired from Jamestown BPU as a plant supervisor in 1986

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Olson whom he married in 1975 in Las Vegas, upon his retirement they enjoyed travelling through 49 states (11 times) in which he loved to tell the stories of all his travels.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Signe (Harold) Crandall.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Marjorie Olson and sister, Ruth McKinley and several nieces and nephews.

At Arthur’s request visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery, Town of Poland at the convenience of the family.
