Eunice A. Hedges

FREWSBURG — Eunice A. Hedges, 91, of Frewsburg, died, Sunday (Dec. 4, 2016) at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born April 6, 1925, in the Town of Ashford, West Valley, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and Cora Schwartz Ahrens.

She had attended West Valley Central School.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg, Samuel Derby Post 556 Auxiliary where she held several offices, United Senior Council of Chautauqua County, Town of Carroll Historical Society, Maple Grove Cemetery Society, and past member of RSVP and the Town of Carroll Senior Citizens. She was an advocate for several clients at the Resource Center, and volunteered for 23 years at the nutritional site in Frewsburg.

Eunice is survived by two daughters: Jessie (James) Bloomquist of Kennedy and Jacqualine Brehm of Buffalo; her grandchildren: Shawn (Sherrie) Hedges and Jeffrey (Nova) Hedges, Elwood, Michelle, Christina, Cassandra, and Bettina Blair, James “Jay” and Robert Smith, Catharine (David) Carroll and Wendy (Garrick) Loveria; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren and a sister, Elva Spellburg.

She was predeceased by her husband Everett Hedges who she married July 25, 1942, in Ashford Heights, a daughter: Judith Blair, a son Robert Hedges: a granddaughter Teresa Blair Ellis, a great-granddaughter: Emily Catharyn Smith, two sisters: Malinda Bohn and Alice Gordon, and a brother, Victor Ahrens.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Phillip Roushy, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg, Frewsburg Fire Company, or the Resource Center, A2 Foote Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.
