Dorothy B. Rich

Dorothy B. Rich, 88, of Lutheran Retirement Home, Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Lutheran Retirement Home.

She was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Frederick and Mabel Stewart Ritch.

Dorothy was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Thule Lodge, Vikings and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 65. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling.

Raising and caring for her family was her main priority. Dorothy was employed by Jamestown Plywood for several years.

She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn D. Rich of Dacula, Ga., and Karen (Doug) Johnson of Jamestown, N.Y.; one son, Ronald (Lois) Rich of Morresville, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Sherry Dahlbeck, Kevin Dahlbeck, Richard, Lisa and Steven Morrell, Scott Johnson and Katie Johnson; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to Dorothy’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodman V. Rich, whom she married Nov. 7, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y., and who passed away on Sept. 15, 1991; one daughter, Janette Dahlbeck who passed away on April 13, 2001; two sisters: Leola Atkins and Lela Sigel; and a stepbrother, Royal Ritch.

A graveside Inurnment will be held at a later date by her family.
