Man Charged After Crash Causes Car To Catch Fire

ELLERY — A Falconer man faces several charges after a crash Sunday afternoon that left his vehicle on fire in a field.

According to a police report, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Route 380 in Ellery for a report of a vehicle on fire in a field. An investigation showed Charles W. Brown, 46, of Falconer was allegedly driving his vehicle while impaired by drugs and also was allegedly in possession of several controlled substances.

He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of controlled substances by ultimate users original container, unlawful possession of marijuana, using an electronic device while driving and failure to keep right.

Brown will appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
