City Man Jailed After Fleeing From Stolen Car
A Jamestown man was jailed Wednesday evening after he and a passenger were spotted in a car reported stolen earlier this week.
Charged was 20-year-old Jordan J. Thayer after city police noticed a car around 5 p.m. with an expired registration on Willard Street. Thayer reportedly sped away when officers attempted to stop him, Jamestown police said in a press release late Wednesday.
Thayer and the unidentified passenger exited the car while it was still moving in the 100 block of Barrows Street and fled the area. The city man was taken into custody and later found to be impaired by drugs.
A switch blade knife and marijuana were found inside the car, which was reported stolen in the town of Ellicott. The vehicle rolled into a parked car during the incident, police said.
Thayer was charged with driving while ability impaired, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, fleeing from police and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment in court.
Jamestown police were still searching for the passenger.
