City Man Found With Gun, Meth After Pursuit

A city man was jailed Tuesday after he was found with a revolver and methamphetamine, the Jamestown Police Department said.

Charged was 38-year-old Douglas J. Wood after officers and detectives with the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force made a street check around 2:45 p.m. at West Sixth Street and Fairview Avenue. Wood was reportedly known to have a handgun, and when approached, the city man allegedly fled on foot.

Wood was quickly taken into custody and found with the .357 revolver and a small amount of methamphetamine, Jamestown police said Tuesday.

He was transported to Jamestown City Jail where he was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Wood was being held pending arraignment in court.
