Woman Jumps From Third-Story Window, Charged After Chase

A Jamestown woman wanted by police was taken into custody after reportedly jumping from a third-story window in an attempt to elude officers.

Toni L. Schnars, 26, was being held pending arraigned in Jamestown City Court after police were conducting a warrant check at a West Fourth Street apartment Wednesday. Officers were looking for Schnars, wanted on an outstanding bench warrant, as well as 34-year-old Kenneth S. Trask, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for petit larceny.

Officers found Trask in the apartment Wednesday around 9:30 a.m., and while speaking to him, observed Schnars reportedly jump from the third-story window. Schnars landed on the sidewalk below and ran from the area.

The city woman was taken into custody following a brief foot chase, the Jamestown Police Department said in a press release. She was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration as well as being wanted on the bench warrant.

Trask was also taken into custody on the warrant from the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.
