JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯ Kristen L. Nelson, 37, of Jamestown, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to stop at a stop sign. Officers stopped a vehicle at 7:18 p.m. on Wednesday for a traffic violation at Newland Avenue and Prospect Street. Nelson was allegedly found to be driving on a suspended license. She was also reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine and suboxone. Nelson was taken into custody.

¯ SHERMAN — Michael Collett, 28, of Lyons, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Troopers stopped Collett on Interstate 86 in Sherman for speeding, and while speaking to him smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A glass pipe and cup containing concentrated cannabis were located, as well as 26 grams of marijuana. Collett was taken into custody and processed at police barracks. He was released with tickets to be in Sherman Town Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
¯ JAMESTOWN — Jorge D. Rivera Jr., 45, of Dunkirk, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and first-degree offering false instrument for filling. Rivera Jr. was issued appearance tickets after it was learned that between May 2015 to January 2016 he allegedly failed to notify the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services that he was receiving income. This allowed Rivera to receive $3,999 in unentitled benefits. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
