JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Sherry J. Cowart, 54, of Jamestown, was charged with theft of service. Officers responded Wednesday around 2 a.m. to East Sixth Street and American Place for a female who refused to pay for cab fare. Cowart was found walking in the area and taken into custody. She was transported to Jamestown City Jail.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ ELLERY — Charles E. Walker, 36, of Knox, Pa., was charged with false personation, unlicensed operation and no/inadequate muffler. Deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 430 in the town of Ellery on Wednesday at 2 a.m. for an equipment violation. The driver gave deputies several false names after being warned. Walker was evenutally charged and processed before being released with appearance tickets to be in Ellery Town Court at a later date.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ SALAMANCA — Danielle L. Ray, 24 of Salamanca, was charged with two counts of petit larceny. Troopers responded Saturday with the assistance of Seneca Marshals following an incident that occurred Dec. 14 in the town of Great Valley. Ray was taken to police barracks for processing. While in custody, it was determined Ray had an outstanding bench warrant from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. She was turned over to one of their deputies.

¯ GREAT VALLEY — Christopher A. Norton, 32 of Great Valley, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Norton was taken into custody following an investigation that found he allegedly made contact with protected parties in violation of an order of protection. He was arraigned in Great Valley Town Court. Norton is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.
