Randolph Man Charged After Found Sleeping On I-86
A Randolph man is facing drunken driving charges after state police allegedly found him sleeping in his car in the eastbound lane of Interstate 86.
Troopers responded Dec. 24 to the Southern Tier Expressway in the town of Randolph for a report of a vehicle stopped in the road. Upon arrival, troopers found 28-year-old Westley Bennett asleep at the wheel with the vehicle still running.
Bennett reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, state police said in a press release. He was taken to police barracks in Jamestown where his blood-alcohol content was found to be .14 percent.
The legal limit to drive in New York is .08 percent.
Bennett was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued an appearance ticket for Randolph Town Court. He is scheduled to appear next month, state police said.
