Area Police Reports


¯ Mickelle M. Hicks, 34, of Bear Lake, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, unlicensed operator and possession of marijuana. On Nov. 22, officers reportedly saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After the vehicle was stopped, Hicks was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and was taken to Lakewood-Busti Police Department where she was submitted to a breath test. She will be in court later.

¯ Stacy A. Scanti, 27, of Cherry Creek was charged with petit larceny Sunday. Officers were called to Walmart on East Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, where a reported larceny was in progress. After an investigation, the officers found Scanti to be in possession of eyeliner, artificial nails, an RCA Tablet, an EPT test kit and a drug test kit.


¯ MAYVILLE — Crist C. Detweiler Jr., 42, was charged with speeding in zone, driving with blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, driving while intoxicated and no or insufficient tail lamps. On Nov. 25, deputies reported seeing a vehicle in the town of Chautauqua with no tail lights driving 55 miles an hour in a 45 mile an hour zone. Detweiler will appear in court at a later date.

¯ ELLICOTT — Shane E. Waite, 19, of Ellicott was charged Sunday with second-degree attempted assault, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment after deputies responded to an Ellicott residence for a fight. After speaking with those involved and an investigation, deputies charged Waite. He was arraigned in Ellicot Town Court and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ CHAUTAUQUA – Aaron J. Schneider, 19, of Mayville was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault on Sunday after deputies responded to a domestic incident. Schneider was charged and taken to the county jail to be arraigned at a later date.

¯ BROCTON — Akwasi Owuso, 31, of Portland was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated (blood-alcohol content of .18 or above), speeding in zone, move from lane unsafely and refusal of pre-screen breath test on Nov. 23. Deputies reportedly saw a vehicle speeding and committing lane violations in Brocton. After deputies pulled the vehicle over, deputies charged Owuso. He will be in court at a later date.

¯ DUNKIRK — Jason E. Lack, 36, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree criminal contempt at 5:05 p.m. Monday after deputies responded to the Lakeside Mobile Home Park on Route 5 in Dunkirk after it was reported Lack was allegedly violating an order of protection. Deputies and New York State troopers arrived on scene and reportedly found Lack. It was determined there was an active order of protection from Dunkirk Town Court. Lack was charged, arraigned in Dunkirk Town Court and taken to the county jail on bail.
