Trial Date Set In Dunkirk Murder Case
MAYVILLE — A Dunkirk woman charged with second-degree murder will head to trial next year.
Rebecca Ruiz will appear at trial March 6, 2018, a date set following an omnibus motion hearing in Chautauqua County Court on Monday. The case is being prosecuted by Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson.
Ruiz, 28, of Dunkirk, was arrested on July 6 and charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of her boyfriend, 21-year-old Julian Duman
Ruiz pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on July 7, but during a grand jury hearing on Aug. 3 the prosecution added two new charges: second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence.
Ruiz was booked into Chautauqua County Jail following her arraignment.
