Police: Driver Had BAC Three Times Legal Limit
A Jamestown man was jailed Wednesday night after police said he was driving with a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit.
Police charged 42-year-old Jamie S. Davidson with driving while intoxicated common law and aggravated DWI with a BAC .18 percent or higher. Officers with the Jamestown Police Department responded to Foote Avenue around 7:45 p.m. for a possible intoxicated driver.
Officers observed the driver, identified as Davidson, fail to stop at a stop sign at Newland Avenue and South Main Street in the city. Davidson then reportedly turned into the wrong lane, almost striking a patrol vehicle at the intersection.
Davidson was pulled over and administered a field sobriety test. The Jamestown man was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. A breath test showed his BAC was three times the legal limit to be driving; the legal limit in New York is .08 percent.
Davidson was transported to Jamestown City Jail and was being held for arraignment in City Court.
