A Jamestown man was jailed after more than 15 pounds of marijuana and a large amount of cash were seized at a residence Friday in the city.

An investigation into the sales and trafficking of drugs led to the execution of a search warrant at 35 Lakeview Ave. around 4:40 p.m. Members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and U.S. Postal Service investigated the sale of illegal drugs prior to Friday’s raid.

Investigators and SWAT members entered the Lakeview residence, where packaged marijuana, a loaded shotgun, bullet-proof vest and $47,693 were discovered. Police determined 23-year-old Bryan Torres was allegedly receiving and trafficking the marijuana from the city location.

Torres was taken into custody following a traffic stop after investigators observed him leaving the location prior to the execution of the search warrant. The city man was taken into custody and charge with felony first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department called the invesitgation a collaborative effort between multiple agencies. He said the drugs were likely to be sold locally.

“This was a significant seizure of both drugs and cash and we are pleased that we could seize the amounts that we did,” Samuelson said. “These drugs were likely slated for sales on the streets of Jamestown and we will continue to aggressively go after all drug dealers in the Jamestown area with the continued cooperation of the community and our law enforcement partners.”

Anyone with information on the illegal sales and trafficking of drugs in the Jamestown area is asked to contact the Metro Drug Task Force through its tip line at 483-TIPS (8477) or through the Tips 411 cellphone app. All calls and tips and kept confidential.
