Jamestown Woman Charged With Endangering Welfare Of Child

A Jamestown woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, among other drug-related charges, after it was determined that she was driving a vehicle under the influence Saturday.

Shortly after 10 p.m., officers of the Jamestown Police Department observed a vehicle violating several vehicle and traffic laws. After executing a traffic stop at Allen Street and Foote Avenue, the driver was identified as Alexis L. Walters, 29, who’s strange behavior led officers to believe she was under the influence of drugs. Officers administered a field sobriety test and determined that she was impaired while operating a motor vehicle.

Officers also observed a 7-year-old child unrestrained in the back seat. Walters was taken into custody and additionally charged with driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs with a child in the vehicle.

Walters was transported to Jamestown City Jail, where she is being held pending arraignment.
