Jamestown Man Sentenced In 2016 Child Porn Case
A Jamestown man convicted of distributing child pornography was sentenced in U.S. Federal Court in Buffalo on Friday.
Christopher Whitford, 46, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford to 10 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary C. Baumgarten, who handled the case, Whitford allegedly used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to distribute files with an undercover officer in May 2016.
A federal search warrant was served on June 23, 2016, at Whitford’s 42 W. 13th St. residence in Jamestown. During a search, several items of “electronic media” were seized, said U.S. Attorney Mary C. Baumgarten in a statement. An analysis of the items revealed images and videos of child pornography. Images shared with the undercover officer were among the items discovered, Baumgarten said.
Overall, more than 2,400 images and 1,100 videos of child pornography were found in Whitford’s possession.
The sentence is the result of an investigation by the FBI.
