Former CODE Employee Charged With Official Misconduct

Joey Weise

A former employee with CODE Inc., a neighborhood preservation group with a location in Jamestown, was charged with official misconduct after reportedly using a credit card from the non-profit to make personal purchases.

An investigation by the Jamestown Police Department led to the charges against 37-year-old Joey A. Weise. An investigation revealed Weise used a credit card belonging to CODE, located at 411 Winsor St., to make personal purchases while employed as a maintenance worker.

According to its website, CODE promotes revitalization activities in designated neighborhoods in Western New York. Part of its mission includes cleaning, repair and renovating substandard properties to bring them into compliance with building code.

According to JPD, Weise allegedly used the card to make $504.67 worth of purchases in May.

Weise was taken into custody Tuesday, where he was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine. He was charged with official misconduct and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Weise was awaiting arraignment Tuesday in Jamestown City Court.
