Police Seize Stolen Property In Two City Raids

Stolen guns and a machete were among the items seized Monday during two separate raids in the city.

At 10:27 a.m., Jamestown police executed a search warrant at 108 Crescent St. Apt. 2 after tipped off about stolen property. Inside, police reportedly found multiple stolen items, including a 12 gauge shotgun, laptop computers and a large machete, police said Tuesday.

In addition, police allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine.

Bernard R. Philbrick Jr., 52, and Kyle N. Lewis, 25, both of Jamestown, were taken into custody at the residence. Philbrick was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Lewis was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

During the investigation, police learned that the stolen property was taken from a nearby 117 Crescent St. residence. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the home owner, who claimed he was the victim of a larceny and had multiple items missing. Some of the stolen items found in the 108 Crescent St. apartment reportedly belonged to him.

Misty I. Harkins, 37, of Jamestown, who was located in the 117 Crescent St. residence, allegedly had an outstanding bench warrant.

A second raid occurred shortly before 5 p.m., when Jamestown police responded to the area of 1063 E. Second St. for a report of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers observed two individuals evade police and enter the rear of the Second Street residence.

Police set up a perimeter and made contact with the owner of the property. During the investigation, a loaded FNH 40-cal pistol was found inside the building.

Further investigation found that 27-year-old James C. B. Blue of Jamestown was one of the individuals who evaded police and possessed the pistol. The weapon was reportedly stolen from Cattaraugus County.

Blue was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was taken to city jail to await arraignment.
