Jamestown Man Taken Into Custody Following Brief Foot Chase

A Jamestown man is facing a laundry list of charges after attempting to evade police following a traffic stop Saturday.

Anthony W. Cunningham Jr., 38, has been charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, third-degree unlicensed operation and parking on pavement.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. Saturday, officers of the Jamestown Police Department stopped a vehicle in the area of 105 E. Fifth St. for an observed traffic violation. It was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Cunningham, was operating the vehicle with his driving privileges suspended.

An investigation led officers to discover that Cunningham was in possession of a quantity of powder cocaine. Cunningham resisted arrest and fled from the scene of the traffic stop. He was located a short time later by police and taken into custody.

Cunningham is now awaiting arraignment on the aforementioned charges.
