Olean Man Jailed After Kidnapping, Rape Incidents

An Olean man is facing multiple felonies, including kidnapping and rape, for incidents that occurred earlier this year, the Cattaraugus County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Francis O’Donnell, 61, was jailed in the Cattaraugus County Jail following an arraignment. O’Donnell issued a plea of not guilty to a host of charges stemming from incidents that reportedly took place between Jan. 13 and Feb. 13 in Olean.

O’Donnell allegedly abducted and coerced another person, engaged in sexual intercourse by force and engaged in oral sexual conduct by force, the District Attorney’s Office reported.

The Olean man was charged with second-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree coercion, four counts of first-degree rape and four counts of first-degree criminal sexual acts.

The case was adjourned for motions, Lori P. Rieman, Cattaraugus County district attorney, said.

Also announced Wednesday was the sentence of Aaron Diers, 41, of Gowanda, to 1 1/2 years in state prison following a conviction of two felony counts of attempted unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

The District Attorney’s Office said Diers was allegedly found in possession on two occasions of lab equipment used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. One incident occurred in April 2016 in the town of Persia and the other in December 2016 in Salamanca.
