Ashville Sex Offender Charged After Using Facebook Account

Sex offender? Don’t expect to use Facebook.

On Thursday, Joshua L. Glover, a Level 3 registered sex offender and parolee from Ashville was charged after allegedly using a Facebook account since August.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Glover’s use of social media was in violation of the Sex Offender Registry Act and the conditions of his parole.

Glover, 35, was charged with failing to register or notify the sex offender registry of a change, a class E felony. He was previously incarcerated in the County Jail for a parole violation. The Sheriff’s Office filed a warrant as a detainer at the jail for the new charge.

Glover will appear in Chautauqua Court at a future date.

According to the Sex Offender Registry Act, sex offenders are required to report to the Department of Criminal Justice Services any Internet accounts, service providers and e-mail addresses for the purposes of chat, instant messaging, social networking or other similar internet communication. A registered sex offender must notify the Division no later than 10 days after any change of the above-mentioned Internet information.
