City Man With Felony Warrant Found In Basement

A Jamestown man faces charges after he was found hiding in the basement of a Hall Avenue home that was supposed to be unoccupied.

Police report responding to 102 Hall Ave. at 7:29 p.m. Friday for a reported trespassing incident. Two women said they were moving into the house and had just begun renting the home on Friday. After a short investigation, it was discovered the property was bank-owned and that no one was supposed to be on the property. Police also learned Richard H. Rolfe Jr., 24, of 234 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown, was in the house and was possibly hiding in the basement.

Officers and Mitchell, the department’s K-9 officer, entered the house to find Rolfe, who had an outstanding felony warrant. After several warnings and opportunities for Rolfe to come out, Mitchell was sent into the basement and found Rolfe. According to a police report, Rolfe attempted to choke the K-9 officer when officers approached and then ignored several commands to stop fighting the dog and for Rolfe to place his hands behind his back.

Rolfe was eventually taken into custody with no further incident and charged with second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest.
