After Police Chase, One Is Arrested

Matthew William Buck, 26, of Jamestown faces several charges after allegedly leading police on a chase through the city starting at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police report being alerted to a stolen motor vehicle being driven near Foote Avenue and Water Street. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over and the driver reportedly fled at high speed throughout the city, eventually driving into the backyard of a home at 33 W. Eighth St. and into a tree. Buck then reportedly ran away before police officers were able to catch him near the scene.

In addition to vehicle and traffic violations, Buck is charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor; third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor; and four counts of reckless driving, a misdemeanor. Buck was also allegedly found in possession of heroin and was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Buck was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he can be arraigned.
