Police Seek Community Bank Robber
ELLICOTT — Police were following up on several leads after a man robbed a bank just before noon Thursday.
Police said the man handed a letter to the teller at Community Bank NA and walked away with an undisclosed amount of money. The man did not appear to have a weapon during the robbery, Ellicott police told The Post-Journal.
The robber was described as being white with dark-colored facial hair. An image from surveillance video was released to the media showing the suspect inside the bank.
After leaving the branch, located at 1982 E. Main St., the man walked on foot toward the Red Roof Inn behind the bank.
Shortly after the robbery, the bank was closed while several police agencies investigated. Ellicott police were assisted Thursday by officers from the Jamestown Police Department, New York State Police and a K-9 unit with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
