Traffic Backed Up Due To Discount-Seeking Shoppers
Significant traffic has backed up portions of Fairmount Avenue on Friday morning as discount-seeking shoppers have flooded to Sam’s Club.
The Ellicott Police Department said it has brought in an additional officer to assist with traffic near the wholesale store at 720 Fairmount Ave. The location reopened today after it was announced Thursday it would close Jan. 26.
More than 60 Sam’s Club across the country will be shuttered, the Arkansas-based company said.
“I would say motorists should avoid Fairmount Avenue if they don’t plan on shopping at Sam’s Club,” said Det. Kevin Pierce of the Ellicott Police Department.
