Lakewood-Busti Police Ask For Public’s Help Regarding Meth Materials
Lakewood-Busti police are asking the public for any information about a red and black duffle bag left outside the Dollar Tree/Famous Hair Plaza, 366 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood.
Police responded to a report about the suspicious bag at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers found the bag resting against the exterior west wall of the plaza and found a bottle inside the bag that was smoking and had a foul odor. The Chautauqua County Hazardous Devices Unit was contacted along with the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department and the Chautauqua County Hazardous Materials team.
Using a remote control robot, the Hazardous Devices Unit was able to safely remove the bottle and secure it. Further examination of the bag’s contents found materials commonly used for making methamphetamine. It is believed the smoking bottle contained methamphetamine that was in the final stage of being prepared. The bottle and its liquid contents were secured and will be processed for evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lakewood-Busti Police Department at 763-9563.
