Woman Hospitalized Following Washington Street Accident

An unidentified woman was taken to UPMC Chautauqua WCA after her vehicle struck a tree near the corner of Washington and Sixth street around 1 p.m. today.

According to Jamestown Police Department Division Commander Todd Isaacson, it is unknown at this time whether the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the accident.

“The vehicle was traveling north on Washington when it apparently veered across two lanes of traffic before striking a tree,” he said.

A 9-1-1 call was made by passerby Miguel Correa.

“The driver looked like she was having some kind of seizure … it was frightening for us,” he said. “Thank God there wasn’t a head-on collission.”

Alstar EMS, Jamestown police and fire responded to the accident. Isaacson said an investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted.
