ASHVILLE — Several fire departments responded to the scene of a structure fire at 2398 Lakeside Drive, Ashville on Tuesday night.

Kurt Hallberg, Lakewood fire chief, said the home was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene. The call came in at 7:21 p.m.

“This whole room on this end was fully involved, and the back was fully involved and it was coming out of the second story,” he said. “This wire on the ground is still live, so we’re waiting for National Grid to cut that.”

Lying in a large pool of water in front of the house was a large wire that Hallberg warned the firefighters and emergency personel not to get near.

“You forget, you know,” he said.

Hallberg said there are no injuries known yet. Ashville volunteer firefighters also responded to the blaze with Celoron firefighters on standby. Lakewood-Busti police also responded. Fire investigators were called to the scene.

The home owner was being treated for chest pains.

“I guess a passerby stopped and told the home owner,” Hallberg said.
