Woman Pulled From Burning Vehicle After Crash

An Irving woman was rescued from a burning vehicle Thursday following a crash on Route 5.

Good Samaritans reportedly helped pull an Irving woman out of a burning vehicle Thursday afternoon.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Chun C. Pandak was traveling westbound on Route 5 in Sheridan, when at about 12:30 p.m., she reportedly veered off the road and struck a tree near Newell Road.

Police said the vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames. A nearby resident and another motorist pulled Pandak from the vehicle, saving her from more significant injuries.

Pandak was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo via Starflight. Alstar Ambulance, along with Dunkirk and Sheridan Fire assisted at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
