City DRI Announcement Postponed Due To Lake Ontario Floods

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul’s visit to Jamestown for the announcement related to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative has been postponed.

According to Lori Cornell, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Southwestern New York regional representative, Hochul was called away by the governor to help with efforts in the region surrounding the Lake Ontario watershed, which has been declared a state of emergency.

On Monday, Cuomo announced that $10 million in state funding is available to assist eligible local municipalities impacted by the recent flooding along the Lake Ontario coastline. The funding is available through state Homes and Community Renewal.

Earlier this month, Cuomo declared a state of emergency in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, St. Lawrence and Wayne counties for the region in order to expedite repairs to impacted structures and construction of shoreline stabilization projects.

No rescheduled date for Jamestown’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative announcement was announced.
