Pair Jailed In Morning Robbery Of Jamestown Business

Two Celoron residents were jailed on robbery charges early Saturday after being caught inside a Jamestown business.

Robert Howard Jr., 40, and Courtney J. Truver, 24, were being held pending arraignment following the incident, which began around 5 a.m. City police were alerted to a burglary in progress at Superior Steel Door & Trim Co., 55 Jones & Gifford Avenue, and were told by a manager that the building’s indoor camera system had been triggered.

The manager told police there was video of two suspects inside the building. Jamestown police, with the assistance of the Ellicott Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and State Police, set up a perimeter around the business.

Officers eventually gained entry with the help of K-9 Mitchell, who reportedly tracked Howard and Truver to an office. Police said the Celoron residents barricaded themselves in the office and refused to exit. Police forced their way into the room, at which time Howard and Truver were taken into custody without incident .

Both were charged with felony third-degree burglary, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration. They were awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
