City Man Charged With Kidnapping; Weapons, Illegal Animals And Deplorable Living Conditions Found In Norwood Ave. Home
A Jamestown man has been charged after a March 12 incident involving a firearm in which he held another man against his will.
Mark Diers, 39, of Jamestown reportedly held the man against his will at 11 Norwood Ave., Jamestown. During his confinement, the victim was allegedly mentally and verbally abused while Diers possessed a firearm. Diers reportedly threatened to use the firearm against the victim.
During the investigation a search warrant was executed at 11 Norwood Ave. Jamestown police report finding illegal weapons, drug paraphernalia and unsanitary/deplorable living conditions. Also found within the residence was several animals, some of which were illegal to possess. Subsequent to the search the residence was condemned by the Jamestown Department of Development and the illegal animals were seized by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Diers was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree menacing, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Diers was charged and taken to the city jail pending arraignment. The investigation is continuing with further charges possible.
