Jennifer Price Discusses Photography As Passion And Career
Jennifer Price has been in love with photography for nearly as long as she can remember.
Now, the Tampa, Fla., native and current Jamestown resident has established herself as a professional in the field as the owner and operator of Priceless Studios Photography, located at 122 Chautauqua Ave. in Lakewood.
Having successfully fashioned her passion into a full-time career since 2009, Price said she is truly happy and blessed to be able to do what she loves for a living. The following is a brief transcription of an interview between The Post-Journal and Price in an effort to illustrate the talents offered by the latter to her community, and the enthusiasm she brings to her line of work.

P-J: When was it that you first discovered that you loved photography and taking photos of your own?
Price: I have had a passion for photography since third grade, and knew I wanted to make it my career early on. I bought my first professional-grade camera during my senior year of high school in preparation to go to college. It was a Canon Rebel XT, and I still have it.
P-J: Where did you attend college, and what inspired you to pursue a full-time career in photography?
Price: For two years I studied at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa, Fla., where I received my associate’s degree in the science of digital photography. That school is closed now, but while I studied there I learned from some of the industry’s best; not just in Florida, but we had instructors from overseas. They were amazing instructors who passed on super valuable knowledge that I couldn’t have gotten from a book or from doing research online.
After I completed my degree I moved back to Jamestown to be closer to my family. I have an aunt in Orchard Park who has her own studio, and she inspired me to do that for myself. My husband, Nick, and I were married on May 23, 2009, and we have been working together ever since. We are blessed to have a wonderful support system of family and friends.
P-J: What kind of services do you offer at the studio?
Price: Baby photos, senior portraits, family photos and wedding photography are my specialties. The fact that we have all seasons here in Western New York is also helpful because when the weather clears between April or May through October we have the capability to do a lot of outdoor shoots. There is great scenery here, and it’s nice to have both indoor and outdoor options available.
P-J: What is it you enjoy most about your work and the art of photography as a whole?
Price: The types of shoots that I do have allowed me to not only celebrate new phases of life with people, but also to build lasting relationships and be able to call them friends. I kind of view photography has more relational than anything. I’m blessed to say that my core group of clients are like friends to me now. Building those relationships and seeing families grow is super inspiring, and some of my greatest joys have been getting to photograph senior portraits for people I used to babysit; celebrating life moments with them. In this smaller community, it’s especially neat to kind of know people better and build a better network and I’ve had a chance to know their stories. Time is an unstoppable force, but photographs allow us to “freeze” a moment of time and that truly is “Priceless.”
