Short Chase, Standoff Leads To Charges For City Man

A 63-year-old Jamestown man is facing multiple charges after leading Jamestown Police Department officers on a brief car chase Saturday evening.

According to police, officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle driven by Lucian LaMonica for several observed vehicle and traffic violations at the intersection of Buffalo and Allen streets. LaMonica allegedly failed to comply, leading police on a short vehicle pursuit.

LaMonica’s vehicle did eventually come to a stop in a driveway on Lewis Road. LaMonica exited the vehicle after being informed to remain inside, instead running into a house and refusing to come out. After a short standoff, he came out and surrendered to police.

He was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to comply, no plate lamp, operating a vehicle with no rear bumper and a broken or distorted windshield, no front license plate and inadequate headlight.

Members of the Jamestown Police Department were also assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Ellicott Police Department.
